I was undecided on this for a long time, but after a lot of deliberation and toing and froing, I decided to move my photoblog to Wordpress.

Henceforth, this blog will not be updated albeit it will continue to exist.

I must thank all of you who did drop by and made a comment, much appreciate.

I had a pleasant surprise when I was going through some of my old files. I found some pages of my scrap book which I used to maintain in school all scanned and placed in a folder which was well hidden.

I quite liked this page, I must have been in grade 6 when I did this - It really is a well worth journey down memory lane when such serendipitous events take place.

Lindisfarne Priory

Lindisfarne Priory on Holy Island was one of the most important centres of early Christianity in Anglo-Saxon England. It is still a place of pilgrimage today, the dramatic approach across the causeway adding to the fascination of the site.

St Aidan founded the monastery in AD 635, but St Cuthbert, prior of Lindisfarne, is the most celebrated of the priory's holy men.

Sillouette of a palm tree, Trincomalee.

I have been to Trincomalee close to ten times during the times when parts of trinco were under tiger control and after.

I dont know why but there is such a magical atmosphere attached to the place, may perhaps be the slighty different atmospheric conditions like low humidity levels and the landscape, palm trees clear horizons etc. Trinco always reminds me of of Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist.

I took this at least five years ago with a 3.2 mega pixel point and shoot camera! Looking back i just cant fathom how i did this with a 3.2! My sister was about 7 when this was taken. I found some very old photographs and i am glad i stuck to photography over the years. When i started taking photos, like everyone else i too thought this was yet another one of my seasonal fads, glad it didnt turn out to be one :)

I took this photograph ages ago, when i was still new to photography and flirting with an everyday point and shoot camera,(well i still use a point and shoot camera ;) Simply love this space and the way the natural light inhabits it. This is the staircase that leads to my bedroom back at home in Colombo.

Another picture of a flower. I am not a fan of flowers at all, neither do i feel errrm ,, i loathe to say this, but neither do i feel "emotionally attached" to flowers :) but i like taking photographs of flowers with the macro option on, and the intricate details of flowers which arent exposed to the naked eye never cease to amaze me.

The light object that i designed for final exams/exhibition - Kaleidoscope 2007 at AOD, it was based on the compositions of Piet Mondrian, an artist who used primary colours and straight lines and squares in most of his works. Fully designed by me and got it constructed by someone i know. had to keep monitoring the guy painfully though,to make sure that it comes the way i wanted it to.stands 7ft tall and 3ft wide and deep.

With up to 12,000 cremations a year carried outhere, it was necessary to provide an appropriate setting for mourners as well. The two functions – cremation and funeral ceremonies – take place on separate floors of this monolithic exposed concrete structure. Access to the building is via three recessed forecourts, which lead into the large central vestibule. This square hall can accommodate up to 1,000 people and is spatially articulated by 29 monumental circular columns with so-called “light capitals” at their heads. Supported only by cantilevered brackets at the tops of the columns, the rough concrete roof seems to hover over this space like a translucent canopy. The lines of the climbing formwork to the walls create an ordering structure.
